The City of Alexandria is set to conduct a public meeting regarding the Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation Project. Originally planned as an in-person event, it will now take place virtually on Wednesday, February 19.
The project aims to alleviate flooding in the area enclosed by Commonwealth Avenue, East Glebe Road, and Ashby Street. It involves integrating two large-capacity projects that include the installation of new storm sewers and additional inlets to boost the capacity of the storm sewer system. Additionally, a new outfall will be installed to discharge runoff into Four Mile Run, along with green infrastructure practices designed to enhance water quality within the watershed.
City staff are expected to discuss project goals, scheduling details, and anticipated impacts during construction at the meeting. Community members will have an opportunity to ask questions of project leaders.
The virtual meeting is scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. via Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/99395064889 with passcode 204525.
For further information about the project, individuals are encouraged to visit the Commonwealth, Ashby, Glebe Flood Mitigation project webpage.
