Rep. Don Beyer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district, shared a series of tweets on March 10, 2025, addressing various issues from commemorating historical civil rights events to current political and economic challenges. Beyer has been a member of Congress since 2015 and has previously replaced Jim Moran.

In his first tweet of the day, Rep. Beyer reflected on a significant moment in American history: "Thinking today about my friend John Lewis, who was one of 600 brave souls who marched for civil rights and were horribly beaten after crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge, 60 years ago. Long after Bloody Sunday, I visited that bridge with John Lewis, an incredible moment." This message commemorates the bravery exhibited during the civil rights movement and highlights his personal connection to this historic event.

Later that day, Rep. Beyer addressed pressing contemporary issues by tweeting about actions taken by prominent figures: "Trump and Musk are illegally shutting down federal agencies, mass firing federal workers, and freezing congressionally mandated funding." He criticized these actions for causing significant job losses and economic instability among his constituents and declared his intention to oppose further measures exacerbating this situation.

In another tweet posted shortly thereafter, Beyer detailed local initiatives aimed at supporting those affected by these political decisions: "On Saturday I organized local governments to offer support to federal workers and contractors with financial and career counseling, mental health resources, and food assistance." He noted that over a thousand individuals attended this event seeking help due to the dire circumstances they faced.
