The Office of Historic Alexandria is participating in the Museum Social Impact in Practice (MSIIP) study, a national initiative led by the American Alliance of Museums and funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The office is among forty institutions selected nationwide for this study after a competitive process.

Historic Alexandria aims to recruit at least 150 individuals to participate in the survey. Participants will visit three different Historic Alexandria museums once each before the end of July. They will then complete a 30-minute survey about their experiences and how these impacted various outcomes.

Participants who complete the survey will receive a special thank you gift, an invitation to a November event sharing results, and free admission into the ALXHistoryLovers Society.

For those interested in participating, more information can be found on the Museum Social Impact Survey page on the City of Alexandria's website. For disability accommodations, contact Nicole Quinn at historicalexandria@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.4554, Virginia Relay 711. Free interpretation and translation services are available upon request via LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or by calling 703-746-3960.

This project is supported by award number MG-252969-OMS-23 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, which provides federal support for libraries and museums across the nation through grantmaking, research, and policy development.

The Office of Historic Alexandria operates eight museums along with historic sites, archives, archaeology projects, tours, exhibits, and public programs aimed at preserving and sharing Alexandria's history. More information is available at alexandriava.gov/Historic.

The American Alliance of Museums represents various museum fields including art and history museums as well as science centers and zoos. Since its founding in 1906, AAM has advocated for museums while providing resources to professionals within this sector.
