The City of Alexandria is inviting the public to a free workshop exploring animatronics on April 24. The session will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Overlook Room in the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
Participants will have the chance to build and animate a mechanical hand using simple materials and laser-cut parts. No prior experience is necessary, and attendees should bring their creativity and curiosity for the hands-on experience.
"This workshop is part of a creative development series," attributed to the collaboration involved in hosting the event. The series is a joint effort by the Institute for Creative, Arts, and Technology at Virginia Tech, Expressions at Amazon Arlington, and the City of Alexandria's Office of the Arts.
Those who wish to attend must RSVP. Further details about the workshop can be found through provided contact information.
The organizers are offering free interpretation and translation services upon request. Individuals needing these services can email LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or call 703.746.3960. Moreover, reasonable disability accommodations are available, and attendees can contact arts@alexandriava.gov or 703.746.4577, Virginia Relay 711, for assistance.
