The Alexandria Police Department (APD) is addressing hoax threats made against Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS), which have emerged on social media. These posts mention a fire alarm being pulled, followed by a planned shooting at an unspecified school. The APD, in collaboration with the Northern Virginia Regional Intelligence Center (NVRIC), has investigated these threats and determined them to be not credible.

Despite this assessment, the posts continue to be reshared and reposted, contributing to public concern. Similar threats have been noted across Virginia and nationwide.

"APD takes seriously and fully investigates any threat to our community’s safety," stated the department. They emphasized that individuals responsible for such threats will face legal consequences. The department urges that suspected threats be reported directly to them rather than circulated on social media.

For non-emergencies, residents are encouraged to contact the APD at 703-746-4444. In emergencies, they should call 911.
