On March 31, 2025, Rep. Beyer expressed concern over rising prices, implying indifference from former President Trump. Beyer stated: "Your prices are going up. Trump 'couldn't care less.'"
On April 1, 2025, Beyer criticized the treatment of public health professionals. He said: "This is no way to treat anyone, much less the people who devote their careers to public health. Firing these people makes all of us less safe."
The following day, April 2, 2025, Beyer addressed the role of the United States Institute of Peace, emphasizing its independence from the government and criticizing any potential overreach by Donald Trump and Elon Musk. He remarked: "The United States Institute of Peace is a private, independent nonprofit not a federal agency. Trump and Musk have no more authority to take it over than they have to seize assets of the American Red Cross or replace the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops with Elon."
Beyer was born in Trieste, Free Territory of Trieste, and currently resides in Alexandria. He holds a BA from Williams College, which he earned in 1972.
