The Friendship Firehouse Festival will take place on Saturday, August 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 100 block of South Alfred Street in Alexandria. The event is free and marks the 250th anniversary of the Friendship Fire Company.
Attendees can expect to learn about fire safety and view equipment from the Alexandria Fire Department. Additional attractions include booths by the Alexandria Police Department and Sheriff's Office, music performances, face painting, community organization displays, local vendors, and food sales. Activities for children include water play and please-touch artifact activities, with free toy firefighting helmets provided.
Visitors are also encouraged to explore the Friendship Firehouse Museum, which was originally built as a firehouse in 1855. The festival is organized by the Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association and the Office of Historic Alexandria.
