The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is managing the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road. The repaving, patching, sidewalk, and alley programs are part of the city's efforts to keep infrastructure in good condition for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and all users.
Residents and businesses on streets scheduled for repaving receive advance notice through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted before work begins. It is important to observe these signs to avoid tickets or towing.
The street repaving list and schedule may change due to factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, other city projects, or utility work coordination.
Scheduled street repaving from July 29 to August 4 includes:
- Price Street (from East Bellefonte Avenue to Cliff Street)
- Manning Street (from Commonwealth Avenue to Clifford Avenue)
Asphalt repairs are planned for the 400 Block of North Armistead Street.
Recently completed projects include:
- Sanford Street (from West Mount Ida Avenue to West Del Ray Avenue)
- Herbert Street (from Commonwealth Avenue to Mount Vernon Avenue)
- Milan Drive (from West Glebe Road to Four Mile Road)
