The Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities (ACPD) is currently accepting applications for the Gerry Bertier Scholarship and nominations for the John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award. The deadline for submissions is April 30.

The Gerry Bertier Scholarship is designed as a merit-based award available to Alexandria residents or students with disabilities who are pursuing post-secondary education.

Nominations are open for two awards:

- The John Duty Collins III Outstanding Advocate for Persons with Disabilities Award, which honors individuals advocating for equal opportunities for persons with disabilities in Alexandria.

- The Commitment to Disability Award, presented in collaboration with the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, recognizing businesses that serve persons with disabilities within the community.

Awardees will be recognized at a ceremony scheduled for June 26 at 5 p.m., hosted at the American Physical Therapy Association located at 3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100.
