The Historic Alexandria Museums are reaching out to residents and visitors to gather insights on how they can enhance engagement in 2025 and beyond. They are conducting the Annual Survey of Museum-goers, seeking feedback to understand the diverse needs and values of their guests.

The survey is part of a national initiative sponsored by the American Alliance of Museums. It aims to collect data from participants, which will help museums like those in Historic Alexandria become more effective in serving their communities. The participating museums include Alexandria Archaeology, Alexandria Black History, Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, Fort Ward Museum, the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum, Friendship Firehouse Museum, and the Freedom House Museum.

According to the organizers: "Museums (like ours!) strive to encourage and expand learning while also addressing the challenges facing our society." They emphasize that input from survey participants is crucial for making informed decisions about future initiatives.

Completing the survey takes approximately nine minutes. Participants have a chance to win one of ten $100 Visa gift cards as a token of appreciation. Interested individuals can access the survey at https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8056406/historicalexandria.

Participation is voluntary, with confidentiality assured for all responses. Jessica Strube is available for any issues related to the survey at jessica@wilkeningconsulting.com. The Office of Historic Alexandria manages eight museums and various historic sites within the city. Their mission involves preserving history through storytelling and public programs while supporting equity and inclusion efforts in partnership with city initiatives.
