City of Alexandria to host family-friendly REC FEST on May 3

The City of Alexandria will host "REC FEST," a free, family-friendly event on May 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Recreation Center, located at 4653 Taney Ave. The event will offer a range of activities designed to showcase the city's fitness, sports, enrichment, arts, nature, out-of-school time, and summer camp programs.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in activities, witness live demonstrations, and register for various programs and camps. The location may change depending on the weather, and more information can be found at visitalexandriava.gov/rpca/recfest.

The event will feature ongoing activities like arts and crafts, various bounce houses, face painting, lawn games, Eagle Boot Camp Training, GaGa Ball, and a Sensory Mobile by Nannie J Lee Recreation Center.

Scheduled on the main stage are 15-minute demonstrations and performances, including a yoga demo, Jazzercise by Cameron Hall, group fitness by Rodney Bates, cheer team performances by Charles Houston and Patrick Henry, a line dance demo by Susan Prats, and a musical performance by Mark Evans.

Interactive games will include bingo, track and field events, dodgeball, kickball, giant volleyball, and more.

The event appreciates the collaboration and dedication of participating city agencies, affiliates, and vendors to make the event a success, including the Department of Community & Human Services, Historic Alexandria, Alexandria Library, and others.
