City Manager James Parajon is set to present the City of Alexandria's Fiscal Year 2026 Proposed Budget to the City Council on February 25 at 7 p.m. The presentation will take place in the Council Chambers at City Hall and will also be available via live stream on the City's website. Additional information can be accessed through the City calendar.

Parajon plans to conduct several public presentations, both in-person and virtual, regarding the FY2026 Proposed Budget. The first presentation is scheduled for February 27 at 7 p.m., though the location has yet to be confirmed. These events are designed to provide residents with an overview of the budget proposal, facilitate questions, and offer insights into Alexandria’s budget process.

Residents unable to attend a public presentation have other opportunities to participate in the budget process through public hearings:

- March 10: City Council Public Hearing - FY2026 Budget

- March 15: City Council Public Hearing - FY2026 Budget

- April 8: City Council Public Hearing - FY2026 Tax Rate and Budget Add/Delete

Additionally, there are seven budget work sessions planned where residents can hear more about the proposed budget:

- February 26: Budget Work Session #1 - City Government & Alexandria City Public Schools Capital Improvement Programs

- March 5: Budget Work Session #2 - City Council/School Board

- March 12: Budget Work Session #3

- March 19: Budget Work Session #4

- March 26: Budget Work Session #5

- April 22: Budget Work Session #6 – Preliminary Add/Delete

- April 28: Budget Work Session #7 - Final Add/Delete

These work sessions serve as a platform for council members to discuss and analyze the proposed budget without making formal decisions or votes.
