The Alexandria Police Department announced that three juveniles have been charged in connection with the Wythe Street shooting incident from September 19, 2024. The shooting resulted in the death of one adult male and injuries to two others. Each of the juveniles faces charges including Murder by Mob, Malicious Wounding by Mob (x2), and Use of Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (3x).

The suspects, all in their late teens, are currently held without bond in different jurisdictions.

Chief Tarrick McGuire stated, "Our officers, detectives, and investigators bring closure to our community today by bringing charges to the suspects in this homicide." He emphasized the role of technology and collaboration with regional jurisdictions: "It is through ballistic technology and the support of our regional jurisdictions that we are able to bring cases like this to prosecution."

McGuire also addressed community concerns regarding gun violence. "There is no place for gun violence in our community," he said. Highlighting the involvement of juveniles in such crimes, he added, "It's not a proud moment. I'm asking everyone to ensure we are taking steps to prevent gun violence and to safely store your guns and not leave them inside your vehicle where they can easily be stolen."
