Historic Alexandria has announced a series of events and activities scheduled from January 27 to February 23, 2025. The upcoming programs cover a variety of themes, including historical reflections, cultural exhibitions, and engaging community activities.

On February 14, the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum will host "Romance, Bromance, & BFFs," an event exploring the history of relationships in Alexandria. Participants can enjoy stories about love and friendship while sampling cocktails and chocolate demonstrations.

In commemoration of Marquis de Lafayette's visit to Alexandria in 1825, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum will hold the "Viva Lafayette Wine Challenge" on February 21. Attendees can partake in a France vs. Virginia wine tasting alongside tavern games and live music.

The Alexandria Black History Museum is partnering with local schools for the Martin Luther King Jr. Poster Exhibition from February 1-28. This annual event showcases student artworks inspired by Dr. King's legacy.

Additionally, several specialty tours are planned at historic sites such as Gadsby's Tavern Museum and the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum throughout February. These tours will offer insights into historical figures' lives and the cultural significance of various locations.

For those interested in deeper discussions on social issues, the Alexandria Black History Museum will host "Meaningful Conversations about Racism" on February 20. This series aims to foster understanding and unity within the community.

Other notable events include a reception with General Washington at Historic Duvall House on February 1 and a concert by Washington Revels Jubilee Voices celebrating African American music on February 16.

As part of ongoing efforts to engage residents and visitors, Historic Alexandria encourages participation in its Annual Survey of Museum-Goers to gather feedback for future initiatives.

Further details about these events can be found on Historic Alexandria's official website or by contacting their offices directly for information regarding accessibility accommodations.
