Rep. Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th District since 2015, expressed concerns over actions taken by Trump Administration officials in a series of tweets on March 25, 2025. Beyer criticized what he described as the mishandling of sensitive information that could have endangered American lives.
On March 25, 2025, Rep. Beyer highlighted the potential risks associated with the mishandling of information by Trump Administration officials: "If the information Trump Administration officials incompetently and carelessly discussed in obvious violation of secure procedures had fallen into the wrong hands, it might have jeopardized the lives of Americans serving in harm’s way." He emphasized that such incidents must not be allowed to occur.
In another tweet from the same date, Beyer accused Trump's team of attacking media outlets after confirming a story themselves: "Trump's people responded by attacking the media after confirming the story themselves. They deny, ludicrously, that the information they disclosed was sensitive or classified." He further stated that during a Senate hearing held earlier that day, there was an attempt to mislead about the seriousness of these actions.
Finally, Rep. Beyer outlined specific individuals involved in questionable activities within his last tweet on March 25: "Consider what we know... We know National Security Advisor Waltz convened what was essentially a National Security Council principals meeting via Signal... We know Special Envoy Witkoff participated in the same." According to Beyer, these actions represented poor judgment and potentially illegal behavior.
