The City of Alexandria's Office of Housing is seeking community feedback on the draft Principles and Goals for the Housing 2040 Master Plan (Housing 2040). These drafts, available in Spanish, Amharic, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto, will help shape the final principles, goals, and recommendations of Housing 2040.

Residents are encouraged to use the comment form to provide input on the draft Principles and Goals by April 20. The form is accessible in multiple languages by selecting a preferred language in the top corner of the form.

The draft was initially shared during the Housing 2040 Community Meeting and Open House held on March 18 at Patrick Henry K-8 School. A summary of the Housing 2040 Survey findings, along with boards and presentations from the meeting, can be found on the Housing 2040 website.

The existing Housing Master Plan (HMP), established in 2013, will expire in 2025, addressing housing needs through 2025. In partnership with the community and local stakeholders, Alexandria is updating the plan to cover through 2040. Information from the Housing Needs Assessment will aid in setting new housing affordability objectives and examining policies to benefit all Alexandria residents and workers. Details and recordings from the Housing 2040 meetings are available at alexandriava.gov/HousingPlan.

Updates on the Housing 2040 process can also be tracked via eNews, and on social media platforms X and Facebook at @HousingAlexVA and @HousingAlexandriaVA, respectively.
