Rep. Don Beyer, representing Virginia's 8th district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, voiced his opinions through a series of tweets in early April 2025. Beyer, who replaced Jim Moran in Congress and currently resides in Alexandria, shared his perspectives on social and economic issues.

On April 4, 2025, Beyer encouraged participation in an upcoming event at the National Mall. He stated, "Some of you are coming up to the National Mall tomorrow to make your voices heard, and that's great. I'll see you there!"

Later that same day, Beyer addressed the economic impact of tariffs on consumers, describing how they disproportionately affect lower and middle-income individuals. He noted, "Tariffs are taxes. Consumers pay those taxes, and they're regressive—hitting low and middle income people harder than high income people." Beyer further elaborated on the broader economic consequences, stating, "Coupled with tax cuts for the rich, this will be the largest transfer of wealth from the working and middle class to the wealthy in history."

On April 5, Beyer spoke out against what he described as authoritarian actions from the current administration. In his tweet, he emphasized the dedication of Americans to protect democratic values, saying, "As the lawless authoritarian in the White House is doing his damnedest to trample the Constitution, Americans across the country are standing in hope and solidarity today - and sending a clear message: We will never stop fighting for our country."
