Alexandria webinar to help people with disabilities navigate housing protections

The City of Alexandria’s Office of Housing and Office of Human Rights will hold a free webinar titled “Know Your Rights: Navigating Housing Protections for People with Disabilities.” The session will be led by Brian McKenzie, Director of Training and Compliance at the Equal Rights Center, focusing on housing rights, reasonable accommodations, and resources available for people with disabilities facing housing discrimination.

The webinar is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 23, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. It will be a virtual event, and attendees can register for the Zoom session.

Participants in the webinar will gain insight into Fair Housing protections for people with disabilities, methods for requesting and receiving reasonable accommodations, rights concerning assistance animals and accessible parking, and resources for tackling housing discrimination.

The event is designed to benefit a wide audience, including renters, homebuyers, housing professionals, community advocates, and property managers or landlords.

To ensure accessibility, interpretation and reasonable accommodations will be provided upon request. The webinar will feature live transcription and captioning.
