This Halloween season, the Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of Edgar Allan Poe. Actor David Keltz will once again bring Poe's stories to life on stage, with performances scheduled for October 30 and 31 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:15 p.m., and attendees can enjoy a cash bar before the show. Tickets are priced at $25 per person, and reservations are advised due to the event's popularity.

Keltz's performance will recreate Poe’s 1849 visit to Virginia, featuring some of his most haunting works. The performance has been praised by institutions such as The Poe House and Museum in Baltimore, The Poe Museum in Richmond, and the Poe National Historic Site in Philadelphia.

The proceeds from this event will benefit Historic Alexandria Museums. Tickets can be purchased in advance through alexandriava.gov/shop.

For those requiring disability accommodations or language services, contact information is provided for assistance.

The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum has a rich history dating back to its formation by citizens of Alexandria in 1838 as part of a larger educational movement. It served various roles during the Civil War and beyond before becoming a museum that offers exhibitions and public programs today.

The Office of Historic Alexandria manages eight museums and historic sites across the city, focusing on preserving history while promoting equity and inclusion initiatives. More information about these programs can be found on their website.

Alexandria celebrates its 275th anniversary this year, marking its historical significance since its founding in 1749.
