Rep. Don Beyer, serving Virginia’s 8th district, expressed concerns and criticisms regarding recent events and policies via social media. The statements, posted on March 27 and 28, 2025, revolve around public health, trade, and local leadership issues.

On March 27, Beyer commented on actions taken by national figures concerning health agencies amidst outbreaks of bird flu and measles. He stated, "Amid bird flu and measles outbreaks, Trump & RFK Jr. are making a dangerous purge of health workers and bringing in a team of kooks, loons, and weirdos. They’re gutting health agencies to put money in billionaires’ pockets. The American people will suffer harmful consequences."

The same day, Beyer also addressed economic issues related to international trade, noting the impact on car prices and model availability. In his words, "Car prices go up. Lower price model cars unavailable. Angry allies. The dumbest trade war in history. My bill would stop this, if Republicans wanted to."

On March 28, Beyer reacted to what he deemed an inappropriate statement affecting Virginians' livelihoods and urged for accountability in leadership. He tweeted, "An awful thing to say. Thousands of Virginians are losing their livelihoods and the ability to put food on the table through no fault of their own. You can't lead without basic human compassion for the people you're supposed to serve. Winsome Sears owes Virginians an apology."
