The City of Alexandria is reminding its residents about the early voting options available for the upcoming General Election on November 5, 2024. All registered voters in Virginia can choose to vote by mail or in person.

The ballots for this election will include contests for US President and Vice President, US Senator, US House of Representatives, Mayor, City Council, School Board, and a proposed Constitutional Amendment.

For those opting to vote by mail, applications must be received by the Office of Voter Registration & Elections by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 25. Applications can be submitted online at vote.elections.virginia.gov or downloaded from the City's Elections webpage. Residents may also call Voter Registration & Elections at 703.746.4050 to request an application by mail.

Completed ballots should be returned to the Office of Voter Registration & Elections by 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5 or postmarked by that date and received by noon on Friday, November 8.

In-person early voting is available without requiring an application. The deadline for early voting is Saturday, November 2 at 5 p.m., with various locations offering different hours:

- The Office of Voter Registration and Elections (132 N. Royal St., Suite 100) offers extended hours from October 22 through November 2.

- Charles E. Beatley Jr. Central Library (5005 Duke St.) has specific times each day from October 22 through November 2.

- George Washington Middle School (1005 Mt. Vernon Ave.) provides early voting on select days.

- Minnie Howard Campus of Alexandria City High School (3775 W. Braddock Rd.) also offers specific dates for early voting.

Ballot drop boxes are available at all early voting locations and polling places on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a secure outdoor drop box under video surveillance accessible around the clock until November 5 at the Office of Voter Registration & Elections.

Same Day Registration is available for those who missed the regular registration period ending October 15. This allows voters to register and cast a provisional ballot during early voting or on Election Day within their correct locality and polling location.
