The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services has announced its schedule for street maintenance and repaving from September 3 to September 8. The department oversees the upkeep of sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road, ensuring safe travel for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Residents and businesses affected by upcoming repaving will receive advance notice through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted prior to the commencement of work. Compliance with these signs is necessary to avoid tickets or towing.

The schedule for street repaving is subject to change due to factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, coordination with other city projects, and utility work. Notably, no operations will occur on Monday, September 2 due to a holiday.

Scheduled streets for repaving include North Paxton Street from Duke Street to Holmes Run Parkway; Imboden Street from North Howard Street to Raleigh Avenue; Sharp Place from Saint Stephens Road to end; Stovall Street from Eisenhower Avenue to Mill Road; Elizabeth Lane from Eisenhower Avenue to Courthouse Square; and Ballenger Avenue from Holland Lane to Courthouse Square.

Recently completed asphalt repairs have been carried out on the 100 block of North Henry Street and the 600 block of Mount Vernon Avenue.
