All City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Several other services and facilities will also see changes or closures.

DASH bus service will follow a Sunday schedule on July 4. The King Street Trolley will operate from King Street Metro to City Hall/Market Square every 15 minutes between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.

For animal emergencies or wildlife concerns, residents can call 703.746.4444.

The General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and the Clerk of Circuit Court Office at both Courthouse and Del Pepper Center locations will be closed on July 4 and July 5.

Residents are advised to check their local DMV Select location hours as they may differ from the state holiday schedule.

Emergency hotlines remain operational around the clock throughout the year. These include Child Protective Services at 703.746.5800; Domestic Violence Hotline at 703.746.4911; Emergency Mental Health Services or substance use crisis hotline at 703.746.3401; Adult Protective Services hotline at either 703.746.5778 or by dialing 988; and Sexual Assault Hotline at 703.683.7273.

The Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, Teen Wellness Center at Alexandria City High School’s King Street Campus and Minnie Howard Campus will all be closed on July 4.

While the Alexandria Archaeology Museum will not open its doors on this day, other museums in the city plan to operate according to their usual schedules.

Alexandria's impound lot remains closed during weekends and observed city holidays with fees accruing only on Saturdays and Sundays but not holidays.

All branches of the Alexandria Library will shut down for Independence Day as well.

Parking enforcement by the Alexandria Police Department for metered spaces and residential permit parking districts is suspended for legal parking spaces only—parking in prohibited areas remains off-limits with temporary no-parking signs still enforced.

Warwick Pool, Old Town Pool, and Memorial Pool are scheduled to open from 10 a.m. until approximately quarter to five in the afternoon while all other recreation centers stay closed for the holiday.

Residential refuse collection typically set for Thursday shifts to Friday due to holiday scheduling adjustments.
