The City of Alexandria is preparing for its participation in the annual National Bike to Work Day, slated for Thursday, May 15. This event encourages individuals to consider using bicycles as an affordable and environmentally friendly option for commuting.
Residents of Alexandria will join others in the area by cycling to various pit stops during their work commute. The event also includes special activities taking place throughout the city and the region.
One of the main pit stops will be at Old Town, located at City Hall, on May 15 at 7:30 a.m. Participants can register for the event and enjoy refreshments, raffle prizes, and a limited-edition Bike to Work Day t-shirt while supplies last. "Whether you’re already an avid cyclist or just looking to get started, the pit stop will feature resources that can enhance your commute!" invites the City. Registration is available at biketoworkmetrodc.org/register.
Alexandria will host six pit stops, including the one at City Hall. Other locations include John Carlyle Square Park, Del Ray, Fairlington Centre, Mark Center, and an afternoon stop at National Landing at APTA. Details about each pit stop can be found on the official "Bike to Work Day find your pit stop page."
