The City of Alexandria is seeking community input for the selection of a new police chief. The initiative aligns with the city's commitment to community policing and resident outreach. Residents are invited to share their views on the essential qualities needed in the next police chief.

To facilitate this, the city has engaged the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) to manage an open and competitive search process. The process begins with an online feedback form available for residents.

City Manager James F. Parajon stated, “We want to hear from the community as we work to identify the best candidate to lead the Alexandria Police Department.” He emphasized that this initial feedback step is crucial in ensuring that candidates align with community values.

The feedback form will remain accessible until May 31, and participation is both voluntary and confidential. Completing the form takes less than five minutes, and it is available in multiple languages: English, Spanish, Arabic, and Amharic.

For more information about this search process, interested parties can contact IACP at AlexandriaVA@theIACP.org. Additionally, reasonable disability accommodations can be requested by contacting Gerry Dineros at Gerry.Dineros@alexandriava.gov or calling 703.746.3970.

Free interpretation and translation services are also offered for those preferring communication in another language through LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or by calling 703.746.3960.
