The City of Alexandria has initiated a call for community input regarding seven intersections identified as high-crash sites on the West End. The feedback will guide future safety improvements at these locations.
The intersections under review are King Street and Dawes Avenue, King Street and 28th Street, King Street and Park Center Drive, Seminary Road and Mark Center Avenue, Seminary Road and Kenmore Avenue/Library Lane, South Van Dorn Street and South Pickett Street, and South Van Dorn Street and Edsall Road.
Residents are encouraged to contribute their input by completing an online feedback form available until Monday, April 28. "Your input will help the project team identify challenges and needs, as well as opportunities for improvement."
These intersections emerged from a 2022 crash analysis conducted across the city. That same year, Alexandria secured federal support from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets & Roads for All Grant Program to carry out safety audits and design improvement concepts for these locations.
This initiative aligns with Alexandria's Vision Zero goal to eliminate traffic fatalities and severe injuries by enhancing safety in areas with a significant risk of serious crashes.
More information about the project and traffic safety efforts is available on the project webpage.
