The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is set to carry out street maintenance and repaving from May 27 through June 2. The department oversees the upkeep of sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road in the city. This initiative underscores their commitment to ensuring that infrastructure remains in good condition for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and all users.
Residents and businesses on streets scheduled for resurfacing will receive advance notice via project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted prior to the commencement of work. It is important for residents to observe these signs to avoid tickets or towing.
The schedule for street resurfacing may change due to factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, coordination with other city projects, and utility work.
Scheduled street resurfacing from May 27 to June 2 includes:
- Washington Street (from Norton Court to Cameron Street)
- North Quaker Lane (from Duke Street to West Braddock Road)
Recently completed projects include Queen Street (from North West Street to North Union Street).
