The City of Alexandria's Department of Transportation and Environmental Services is tasked with maintaining sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road. This responsibility includes repaving, patching, and maintaining sidewalks and alleys to ensure safe travel for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and all city users.
Businesses and residents on streets scheduled for repaving receive advance notice through project signs or letters. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted before work begins. Observing these signs is crucial to avoid tickets or vehicle towing. The street repaving list and schedule may change due to factors like weather conditions, equipment availability, other city projects, or utility work coordination.
From June 3 to June 7, the following streets are scheduled for repaving: North Quaker Lane (from Duke Street to West Braddock Road), King Street (from Janneys Lane to Dangerfield Road), and Callahan Drive (from Duke Street to King Street). Recently completed projects include Washington Street from Norton Court to Cameron Street.
