Alexandria announces Memorial Day schedule changes

City of Alexandria government offices will close on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. Several other services and schedules will also be affected.

DASH bus service will follow a Sunday schedule on the holiday, while the Alexandria Transit Company administrative offices will not operate. The King Street Trolley remains available daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., with stops between King Street Metro and City Hall/Market Square every 15 minutes.

Court-related closures include the General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and Clerk of Circuit Court. Emergency hotlines continue to function around the clock, covering child protective services at 703.746.5800; domestic violence at 703.746.4911; emergency mental health or substance use crises at 703.746.3401; adult protective services at 703.746.5778 or 988; and sexual assault assistance at 703.683.7273.

Health facilities such as the Alexandria Health Department, Flora Krause Casey Health Center, and Teen Wellness Center will not be open on Memorial Day. However, museums will operate according to their regular schedules.

Parking restrictions enforcement by the Alexandria Police Department at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts is suspended for the day but does not extend to illegal parking areas or zones marked with temporary no-parking signs.

Pools including Warwick Pool, Old Town Pool, and Memorial Pool welcome visitors from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., while Charles Houston Recreation Center and Patrick Henry Recreation Center open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; all other recreation centers remain closed.

The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will also shut its doors on this day, affecting refuse collection services which will shift one day forward during that week.
