The Alexandria Health Department (AHD) and local partner organizations are organizing the Men’s Health Empowerment Expo. This event is scheduled for Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center in Alexandria, Virginia.
The expo will offer health and vision screenings, HIV testing, as well as boxercise and healthy cooking demonstrations. Attendees can join breakout sessions on key men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, diabetes, and heart health.
The event will also feature guest speakers and a panel discussion focused on mental and holistic health. Wes Hall, known for hosting “Wizards Pregame Live,” will deliver the keynote speech. Other notable speakers include former Alexandria Police Chief Don Hayes and Pastor Lou Whiting of My Father’s House Christian Church International.
Entertainment will be provided by a live DJ throughout the day, and attendees will receive a complimentary meal.
Dr. David Rose, AHD Director, emphasized the importance of men's health: “As men, our health is critical,” he stated. “But often, men do not have the resources and assistance we need to meet our own health goals. I invite Alexandria men to join me at the Men’s Health Empowerment Expo and leave the day with the tools we need to lead long, healthy lives.”
Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP. Additional information about the event and its co-hosts can be found on the event webpage. Details regarding transit options and parking in Alexandria are also available.
For individuals requiring communication in another language or disability accommodations, services are offered via email or phone contact provided in the announcement.
