Rep. Don Beyer, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia's 8th district since 2015, recently addressed concerns regarding helicopter traffic and a tragic incident at DCA through a series of tweets on January 31, 2025. Beyer emphasized the need for long-term solutions and expressed his commitment to discussing these issues with regional colleagues.

On January 31, Rep. Don Beyer commented on the Federal Aviation Administration's response to helicopter traffic concerns, stating: "It's good to see this response from FAA but we will need long term answers on helicopter traffic here. I'm discussing this with my regional colleagues and I expect we will have more to say soon."

Later that day, he reflected on the impact of a tragic incident at DCA, emphasizing community support: "The tragic incident at DCA has deeply affected families, first responders, and our community. If you’re struggling, remember help is available. For free and confidential 24/7 support, dial or text 9-8-8." He also provided additional mental health resources.

Concluding his day's communications, Rep. Beyer urged for action concerning military activities near DCA: "We are urging the Department of Defense to halt military helicopter training near DCA and conduct a safety review on the future of those flights."
