The City of Alexandria is engaging with its community to discuss the future of the local economy in collaboration with the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership (AEDP). Residents are invited to contribute their insights through a survey aimed at informing an upcoming Economic Summit. The survey seeks input on potential economic challenges and opportunities and is available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Amharic, and Arabic. Participants' responses will be confidential, and the survey will remain open until April 16.
An in-person community conversation is scheduled for April 10 at the Charles Houston Recreation Center. The event, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., will address economic development, commercial uses, and investment strategies in the city. Attendees will receive information on regional and national economic trends, and there will be opportunities for questions and discussion. No registration is required for this event.
The Economic Summit will take place on May 8, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Hosted by the City of Alexandria and AEDP, the summit will focus on Alexandria's economic health and future outlook. Topics will include national and regional economic trends, Alexandria's economic development strategies, and preliminary findings from the community survey and April 10 session. The consulting team TIP Strategies will facilitate these discussions.
Residents are encouraged to participate in these events and contribute to Alexandria's economic planning. Information on registration and updates can be found by subscribing to Alexandria eNews.
