Fort Ward Museum offers guided tour of Civil War defenses

The Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site is offering a guided tour that explores the history of Washington’s Civil War defenses. The event will focus on the Defenses of Washington and the contributions of one veteran to its preservation. It features a special exhibit titled “Lewis Cass White: Preserving the Legacy of Fort Stevens” and includes an outdoor tour of the preserved earthwork fort.

The tour, which will take place regardless of weather conditions, involves walking on outdoor paths. It is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Fort Ward Museum & Historic Site, located at 4301 W Braddock Road. Admission is priced at $15, with a discounted rate of $12 for members of Historic Alexandria. Tickets are available for purchase.
