The City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts is inviting community organizations, businesses, and event organizers to host the Mobile Art Lab at their events at no cost. This vehicle offers hands-on creative experiences and aims to transform gatherings into art celebrations.

The Mobile Art Lab provides free visual and performing arts activities led by artists, using both traditional and modern art supplies. The initiative targets community organizations, businesses, and event organizers who wish to incorporate creativity into their events.

Eligible events for the Mobile Art Lab include new or existing indoor or outdoor public gatherings within Alexandria city limits. These can take place in public spaces such as recreation centers, libraries, parks, schools, local businesses, neighborhood gatherings, special events, and pop-ups. However, political rallies, fundraisers, commercial marketing events, private parties, or those by special-interest groups are not eligible. For eligibility inquiries, contact arts@alexandriava.gov.

Applications are reviewed based on several criteria including the date of the event, anticipated audience size and location logistics. Event organizers must ensure compliance with city permits and provide space for the Mobile Art Lab vehicle.

Interested parties should submit an online application by Sunday, April 13. Required information includes a description of the proposed engagement, event location details, estimated attendance numbers, visibility potential as well as any partnerships or sponsorships.

Key dates include:

- Application opening on Wednesday, March 12

- A virtual information session on Thursday, March 20

- Application deadline on Sunday April 13

- Notifications sent out on Monday April 21
